CVS/NCOA/MASC “Prescription for Better Health & Wellness”
State Competition |
This competition is open to all senior centers in Maryland.
The CVS/NCOA/MASC “Prescription for Better Health & Wellness”
State Competition award honors senior centers for the outstanding work done in promoting a healthy lifestyle for seniors in their community. This award focuses on best practices in the health & wellness category with an emphasis on the ability of the program to be replicated. Each finalist will receive a certificate of appreciation.
The state winner will receive a plaque and a check payable to their center for five hundred dollars ($500.00) plus a complimentary registration at the 2009 NCOA/ASA “Aging in America” conference held March 16-19, 2009 in Las Vegas, NV.
Applications will be judged on the following criteria:
- Ability to present a best practice health or wellness program, (evidenced based programs are accepted).
- Potential usefulness in other senior centers and their replicability.
- Quality of the description of how this program made a difference to a senior.
Additional points will be awarded for demonstrating an ongoing commitment to seniors at an exemplary level and innovative community partnerships.
The deadline for the receipt of applications is Friday, October 3, 2008. Applications should be sent to: Jill Hall, MASC President, Baltimore County Department of Aging, 611 Central Avenue, Suite 325, Towson, MD 21204. The quarterly trainings following our regularly scheduled Board meetings have been very successful and will continue with Workshop '08 in the fall and then additional events in March and June.
